AceShowbiz - T.J. Holmes is still recovering after completing the New York City Marathon earlier this month, a feat he hoped would serve as a "redemption run" after his struggles in the Chicago Marathon in October. However, the marathon came at a steep price.
Holmes, 47, posted on Instagram that he is dealing with severe post-marathon pain and possibly a ligament tear in his left foot, leaving him in a brace and off the running trails for the next four to six weeks.
Holmes documented his visit to the doctor, sharing X-ray images that reveal the damage. He explained, "Damn. DAMN. DAMN!! Hard words for a runner (like me) to hear: 'You need to stop running.' Post-marathon pain got severe enough that I went back to the doctor who tells me I possibly have a ligament tear … or a ligament strain, at best."
The New York City Marathon was supposed to be a moment of redemption after Holmes had a challenging experience in the Chicago Marathon, where he nearly collided with another runner. This incident aggravated an existing injury to his right IT band, causing him to leave the Chicago race in an ambulance.
Despite the setbacks, Holmes remained determined to participate in the New York City Marathon alongside his partner, Amy Robach. He completed the race with a time of four hours, 14 minutes, and 39 seconds. Robach, who has been supportive throughout Holmes' journey, also shared their marathon experiences on social media, expressing gratitude for the event and the joy it brought.
Holmes' followers have showered him with well-wishes and shared their own injury stories, advising him to follow his doctor's recommendations. Comments range from heartfelt sympathy to stern advice, emphasizing the importance of listening to medical professionals.
