The ex-husband of Whitney Houston and his wife Alicia Etheredge-Brown have expressed their condolences following the passing of Cissy Houston at the age of 91.

AceShowbiz - Bobby Brown, the former husband of Whitney Houston, has paid tribute to her mother Cissy Houston, who passed away on Monday at the age of 91. Brown and his wife Alicia Etheredge-Brown released a joint statement expressing their sorrow.
"Sending love and blessings to the Houston family on this great loss. May she rest in Peace and Power," the statement issued by the couple read.
Cissy Houston was a renowned gospel singer and a two-time Grammy winner. She was also a successful session singer, lending her vocals to artists including Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan.
Cissy Houston's passing comes after a battle with Alzheimer's disease. She had been under hospice care in her New Jersey home.
Brown and Whitney Houston were married from 1992 to 2007. Their tumultuous relationship was marred by accusations of infidelity, substance abuse and physical abuse. The couple divorced in 2007.
Despite their divorce, Cissy Houston remained protective of her daughter Whitney, whom she praised for her talent and defended against Brown's allegations.
Cissy Houston's legacy will continue to live on through her music and the inspiration she provided to countless others. Her daughter Whitney and granddaughter Bobbi Kristina Brown both predeceased her.
In her statement, Cissy Houston's daughter-in-law Pat Houston said, "Mother Cissy has been a strong and towering figure in our lives. A woman of deep faith and conviction, who cared greatly about family, ministry, and community. Her more than seven-decade career in music and entertainment will remain at the forefront of our hearts."
