AceShowbiz - Jax Taylor has resubmitted his divorce petition with Brittany Cartwright in Los Angeles, as reported on Thursday, October 4. Taylor, represented by Mark Vincent Kaplan, had previously submitted paperwork while representing himself but made some errors.
Kaplan's involvement is noteworthy as he is the legal counsel for prominent figures such as Kevin Federline, Paula Abdul and Charlie Sheen. In Federline's case, Kaplan assisted in navigating a custody battle with ex-wife Britney Spears and child support arrangements.
In his initial filing, Taylor erroneously claimed he and Cartwright were never legally married and granted her full custody of their son Cruz. However, a rep clarified that these were clerical errors that would be corrected.
Despite the divorce proceedings, Taylor and Cartwright remain committed to co-parenting Cruz. Cartwright has stated that she prioritizes being a great mother and believes in a healthy co-parenting relationship with Taylor. Taylor, too, has expressed his love and care for Cartwright and hopes to maintain a positive relationship with her as an ex-husband and Cruz's father.
Lance Bass, who officiated Taylor and Cartwright's 2019 wedding, confirmed their legal union in response to Cartwright's public comment on Taylor's erroneous filing.
Meanwhile, Federline's attorney Kaplan has handled high-profile custody and child support cases. Federline was awarded full custody of his two sons with Spears in 2008. While Cartwright and Taylor have indicated their custody arrangements are less contentious, Kaplan's experience in this area could be beneficial.
As the divorce proceedings continue, Taylor and Cartwright's focus remains on their son's well-being and maintaining a positive co-parenting relationship.
