The record executive and businessman comes to his superstar daughter's defense, claiming that race is a factor in the 'Texas Hold 'Em' hitmaker's CMAs snub.

AceShowbiz - Mathew Knowles has had a few things to say about the 2024 Country Music Association Awards nominations. The father of superstar Beyonce Knowles responded to his daughter's country album receiving zero nominations.

On Monday, September 9, the 72-year-old record executive and businessman shared his opinions on the CMA snub. Speaking to TMZ, he revealed that he was "not surprised his daughter received zero CMA nominations for her 'Cowboy Carter' country album, given her history with the awards show."

Mathew went on to say that the 43-year-old singer "didn't have a good experience performing with the Dixie Chicks at the 2016 CMA Awards," noting that "her inclusion didn't go over so well." He also stated that "the CMAs never apologized to Bey."

Despite Queen Bey's "Cowboy Carter" being "one of the biggest country albums of the year," Mathew believed "the voters are 'showing it still comes down to white and black.' " He explained, "There's more white people in America and unfortunately they don't vote based on ability and achievements, it's still sometimes a white and black thing."

Mathew stressed that he "isn't calling the CMA voters racist." However, he emphasized that her snub "speaks for itself." He elaborated that "the decision-makers at the CMAs" taking "a negative position" did not come as a shock "in the current state of American culture." He added, "In America, there's no accountability for people not being accepting of other cultures."

Mathew's response came after the CMA released their nominations, where Beyonce is noticeably absent. In contrast, Morgan Wallen, who was previously caught on video using a racial slur and arrested for his dangerous drunken antics, leads this year's CMA Awards nominations with seven.

While Beyonce herself has not publicly spoken up on the matter, many social media users came to her defense. One in particular wrote, "There's just no f**king way that bey and cowboy carter got completely ignored at the cmas but f**kass [Post Malone] got 4 nominations... this is just racism and there's no other word for it bc cowboy carter is one of the biggest albums of the year and it literally put country on the spotlight again this year."
