If the 2024 CMA Awards aimed to stir controversy, they succeeded. Fans are outraged after Beyonce's critically acclaimed country album, 'Cowboy Carter,' received zero nominations.

AceShowbiz - The discourse exploded on social media moments after the CMA released their nominations where Morgan Wallen leads the list and Beyonce Knowles is noticeably absent. Her fans have since taken to social media to blast the organization and accused them of racism.
"There's just no f**king way that bey and cowboy carter got completely ignored at the cmas but f**kass post malone got 4 nominations… this is just racism and there's no other word for it bc cowboy carter is one of the biggest albums of the year and it literally put country on the spotlight again this year," a furious X user wrote.
Beyonce, who has long been a significant figure in music, sought to break barriers in country with this project. "Cowboy Carter" and its lead single "Texas Hold 'Em" topped the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 charts respectively, pushing Beyonce to become the first Black woman to top the Country Albums chart since its inception in 1964.
The album also shone a light on other Black country artists like Shaboozey, whose feature on "Sweet ★ Honey ★ Buckiin' " gained him significant traction. His single "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" has since spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Fans believe CMA are not happy because "Cowboy Carter" was inspired by the hostile reception Beyonce received over her 2016 CMA performance with the Chicks. "Anyone with common sense knew the CMAs were gonna pay Bey dust. They do not like her. They are NOT going to honor an album that was sparked from their racist treatment towards her," one tweet read.
Beyonce herself has shared the emotional roots behind "Cowboy Carter." "This album has been over five years in the making," she wrote on Instagram. "It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed…and it was very clear that I wasn't." Those criticisms led her to take a deeper dive into the genre's history and culminated in a project aimed at challenging existing boundaries in country music.
Meanwhile, Morgan Wallen, who was previously caught on video using a racial slur and arrested for his dangerous drunken antics, leads this year's CMA Awards nominations with seven. This stark contrast has not gone unnoticed by fans, further fueling the outrage.
Page Six has reached out to both Beyonce's camp and the CMA for comments but has yet to receive a response. As the debate rages on, one thing remains clear: "Cowboy Carter" has made an indelible impact, regardless of recognition by the CMA.
