AceShowbiz - Kamala Harris made a surprise appearance at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Monday night, August 19. Walking out to Beyonce Knowles' "Freedom", she drew a standing ovation and roar from the crowd.
The Vice President and presumed Democratic presidential nominee was decked out in a tan suit. She delivered brief remarks with her husband Doug Emhoff and running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, looking stoked.
"This is going to be a great week," she stated to a round of applause. She addressed President Joe Biden, saying, "I want to kick us off by celebrating our incredible President Joe Biden... Joe, thank you for your historic leadership, for your lifetime of service to our nation and for all you will continue to do, we are forever grateful to you."
"And looking out at everyone tonight, I see the beauty of our great nation. People from every corner of our country and ever walk of life are here, united by our shared vision for our country," Harris continued. "And this November, we will come together and declare with one voice as one people we are moving forward… guided by our love of country, knowing we all have so much more in common than what separates us."
"Let us fight for the ideals we hold dear-and let us always remember when we fight...," she concluded. The crowd erupted, chanting back, "We win!"
Harris wasn't officially scheduled to take the stage until Thursday, when she will formally accept the party's nomination for president. Rumors have been swirling that Beyonce will go all out supporting Harris and has even reached out to the vice president's team about performing on the last day of the convention.
Taylor Swift's fans are also speculating that the pop superstar will make an appearance at the four-day convention after concluding the European leg of her "Eras Tour" in London on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, Tony Goldwyn was hosting the first night of the convention, with Ana Navarro, Mindy Kaling and Kerry Washington slated to take on the pivotal role on the following days.
