AceShowbiz - Remy Ma is staying in the safe spot. During her appearance on "The Jason Lee Podcast", the "All the Way Up" raptress refused to answer questions about Nicki Minaj and Latto (Mulatto)'s fallout over Grammys nomination.
In the latest episode of the podcast, the New York-born raptress was asked by host Jason Lee about the "Grammy thing between Latto and Nicki." Staying mum, the femcee told Jason that he would have to ask one of the ladies involved.
However, Remy did mention her nominations, stating that she lost out to Black Eyed Peas and, later, Chance The Rapper. Remy also noted Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and Nas have Grammys, hinting that the Recording Academy may be shifting.
Additionally, Remy said "it's a voting system" that isn't necessarily based on numbers or a more defined structure. "Once you get nominated, you're a part of the committee. You can vote, but a lot of times, it seems like whoever is signed to the label with the most people that are on the board, that's who usually wins. You're obviously gonna vote for your artists," she explained.
Elsewhere in the chat, Remy was asked about how she felt after Cardi used her photo as her Twitter avatar. The social media gesture was a response to Nicki using JT from the City Girls as an avatar in the midst of her Twitter beef with Cardi.
Remy said that she didn't feel the move from Cardi called for her to respond or react in any way. "I ain't catch a stray, hold on be clear," she shared, "I was at home, waiting with my notifications on."
Remy also recalled the moment when Mike Tyson offered her a car in exchange for sex. "Listen, I just feel like in 2023, why are we discussing this?" Remy first said. "Actually, it's different now. I feel like women get way more now than then. It's actually an accolade for you to set your chick out. You don't even got to let 'em hit."
Elaborating further, Remy recalled how Mike's remark felt "weird" at the time, adding that it "scared" her. "It was just weird," she elaborated, "I'm mad that that's something that came out. … I was scared. I'm scared now. I don't even know what to say. I just want you to change the subject. I just don't like it."
The story of Mike offering Remy one of his luxury cars was brought up by Fat Joe during a sit-down with Angie Martinez, Mike and Mike's wife Lakiha Spicer on "Hotboxing with Mike Tyson" podcast last September. At the time, Fat Joe said, "He wanted to keep Remy Ma.... Mike invites me to the house an he says bring Remy Ma with you. This is around lean back or some s**t like that."
"We go to the house. He opens the door butt naked. Mike opens the door a** naked," the "Lean Back" spitter continued as Mike laughed on. Detailing the former boxing champion's antics, the musician continued, "I'm only worried about him. He takes me a tour of the house, I'm not lying to you. Every room I walked in there was a chick in every room, in every f**king room. I'm like what the f**k, I'm like this guy lives a f**king life. He offered us some f**king 500 bands. I was like, 'Oh my god.' "
