AceShowbiz - "American Idol" continues its Hollywood Week in the Sunday, April 3 episode. In the new outing, the singers competed in Duets challenge where they were paired up among themselves. Those who survived advanced to Round 3: Hollywood Showstoppers.

The first performers to kick off the night were Fritz Hager and Leah Marlene, who performed "Locked Out of Heaven" by Bruno Mars. Judge Lionel Richie loved it as he said that "the whole is better than the individual parts." The two moved on to the next round.

While others could not choose their partners for the Duets challenge, Platinum Ticket winners got to choose their own partners. Kenedi picked Jordan Chase because she's "literally obsessed with his voice." They sang "Lean on Me" by Bill Withers which sent them to the next round.

The next duo was Allegra Miles and Taylor Fagins who opted to sing "Locked Out of Heaven". Taylor wasn't comfortable singing in duets as he felt like his "loud" voice is overshadowing Allegra. Allegra moved on, but Taylor unfortunately didn't.

After much consideration, Platinum Ticket winner Huntergirl chose Cole Wesley Ritter as her partner. They joined forces to sing "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac and they did sound great together. As Katy Perry praised Huntergirl for her "an undeniable tone" and Luke Bryan loved Cole's vibe, the two singers were sent to the next round.

Next up were Sam Moss and Haley Slaton as they sang a ballad version of "Dancing on my Own" by Robyn. It was a solid duet but apparently it wasn't enough to make Haley advance to the next as it was only Sam who moved forward. Following it up was Platinum Ticket winner Jay and Morgan Gruber, who belted out "Shallow" by Lady GaGa and Bradley Cooper. Although they struggled to relate to the lyrics first, the two nailed their performance as they went to the next round.

Country singers Noah Thompson and Olivia Faye then took the stage to sing "July" by Noah Cyrus. Noah made a few mistakes during the performance, but they fortunately moved on. As for Tristen Gressett and Cameron Whitcomb, they chose to sing "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Both of them did well during the performance, so it wasn't surprising that they were sent to the next round.

The next duo was Kevin Gullage and Yoli Mayor, who moved on after offering a performance of "Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better". Douglas Mills Jr. and Scarlet followed it up with a performance of "Rewrite the Stars" from "The Greatest Showman". Things didn't go well during rehearsal as Douglas kept having trouble with the lyrics. It got Scarlet so stressed, prompting her to pull her mic off and walk away for a breather. During the performance, Douglas did forget his lyrics but recovered well. The two eventually moved to the next round.

Cadence Baker and Cole Hallman sang "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)" by Marvin Gaye. Unfortunately, the judges only kept Cadence in the competition. Cristian Guardino and Nicolina wowed everyone as they belted out "The Prayer" by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion. Unsurprisingly, they moved on. Concluding the night, Kelsie Dolan and Betty Maxwell hit the stage to sing "Just Give Me a Reason" by Pink. Lionel was in tears over the overwhelming performance and the two were sent to Round 3.

The next episode, which will air on Monday, April 4, will see the contestants competing in Hollywood Showstoppers.
