When announcing the news, the 'Kiss Me More' hitmaker tells her fans and followers that she 'will no longer be performing' as 'it's simply not safe' for her and her team to continue to rehearse after some of her crew caught the virus.

AceShowbiz - Doja Cat has announced that she will not be performing at the 2022 Brit Awards. Taking to social media, the "Kiss Me More" hitmaker told her fans and followers that she was forced to cancel her performance at the award-giving event due to COVID-19 exposure on her team.

In a statement posted on her Twitter account on Monday, January 31, the 26-year-old hip-hop star said, "Unfortunately, due to cases of COVID within my crew, I will no longer be performing at the Brits." She went on explaining, "My team and I have been in rehearsals for weeks and despite taking the utmost caution.

"Numerous members of my crew (both on and off stage) have tested positive for COVID," Doja, whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, continued. The "Woman" rapper then pointed out that "it's simply not safe for us to continue to rehearse together and put each other in harm's way."

Near the end of her post, Doja said that she "can't wait to perform for [her] UK fans as soon as I can." The "Planet Her" artist then concluded her statement by reminding her fans to "take care of [themselves]."

Doja Cat announced that she had to cancel her Brit Awards performance due to COVID-19 exposure within her team.

Doja, who is nominated for International Artist of the Year and Best International Song for her and SZA's collaboration "Kiss Me More", herself tested positive for the highly-contagious virus in December. At the time, she had to scrap her performances as part of the iHeartRadio "Jingle Ball" tour after catching the virus along with members of her production team.

"As most of you probably heard earlier, a few members on my production team tested positive for Covid-19 and I had to cancel a couple of my upcoming performances as a safety precaution," the rap star, who admitted her "spirits" were "down" because of the shows' cancellation, announced at the time. "Unfortunately, I'm sad to share that I just tested positive as well and will no longer be able to perform on the rest of the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour."

The 2022 Brit Awards is scheduled to take place at London's O2 Arena on Tuesday, February 8. The organizers have confirmed that Sam Fender will be performing along with rapper Dave, Ed Sheeran, Holly Humberstone, Adele, Liam Gallagher and Little Simz.
