AceShowbiz - Raquel Leviss thinks nothing is wrong with protecting her peace, including by throwing an "unengagement party" after breaking up with ex-fiance James Kennedy. Taking to her Instagram account, the "Vanderpump Rules" star explain her decision to throw such party.
In a note titled "Morning Thoughts", which she shared after the Bravo series' emotional season nine reunion aired, Raquel wrote, "I remind myself that how others react to what I do [is] not my place of concern." She continued, "Trying to change other's perception of me is a form of control."
Seemingly referring to the party, Raquel went on to say, "Some people will think what I did last night was cruel and heartless. I did what I did to support MY NEEDS and my needs only." The aspiring occupational therapist added, "I am learning how to not feel remorse for putting myself before others."
"Therefore I don't feel guilty reposting this because we all need closure in a breakup," she went on to note. The 27-year-old star said that she's finally "able to turn a new leaf and continue creating the life I want to live with healthy thoughts surrounded by the people I love" now that the "Vanderpump Reunion" has aired and season nine is officially a wrap.
Raquel threw the controversial "unengagement party" on Tuesday night, January 25. Among those who attended the bash was co-star Ariana Madix, who was seen sipping on cocktails with colorful bachelorette party-esque penis straws.
Raquel and James, who had been together for 5 years, addressed their split during the "Vanderpump Rules" reunion. "I've been having nightmares about our wedding day," he admitted. The former couple added that they decided to call off their engagement after they realized they weren't each other's "soulmates" and that they were no longer "in love" with each other.
In the special, the pair also revealed that they hadn't been intimate for a while. James even allegedly sent Raquel "rage" texts, in which he called her a "w***e" and a "slut," over two summers ago.
The two publicly announced their separation on December 5, 2021. "After these 5 wonderful years we had together, we decided we have two different goals and made the decision to call off the engagement," they wrote in a joint statement shared to Instagram.
