While the Grammy Award-winning musician admires his wife's bounce-back body, many accuse him of putting the pressure on women to get their pre-pregnancy size after giving birth.

AceShowbiz - David Foster's intent to compliment his wife Katharine McPhee has landed him in hot water. The musician has been dragged online for gushing over the actress/singer's postpartum body after she gave birth to their first child together.
On Monday, December 27, David was apparently feeling exceptionally proud of his wife as he took to Instagram to share a picture of Katharine showing off her post-baby bikini body in a black two-piece. In the image, the "Smash" alum looked snatched while relaxing on the grass. "what baby!" he captioned the snap.
While some of his followers were also amazed at Katharine's bounce-back body, many took issue with his comment as they accused the Grammy Award-winning musician of putting the pressure on women to get back in shape after giving birth, especially after his wife opened up about her struggle with eating disorder.
"I get what you're saying… but this is a very unhealthy post. Not cool at all," one person reacted to the post. Another reminded the former husband of Yolanda Hadid, "Doesn't She have a history of anorexia? Not healthy to focus on the body versus the soul."
A third remarked, "Cringe worthy post…" Someone sarcastically said, "Yeah, let's perpetuate the unhealthy narrative that women need to be back to or smaller than their pre-pregnancy size postpartum."
"Feel that this comment is meant to be complimentary to her. Sadly if she was not perfectly fit, perfectly toned would you be as proud?" another called out the 72-year-old songwriter. "A mother's body is a badge of honour all the stretch marks all the bumps, all the curves. Women are not just the sun of our attractiveness or body shape. Sad."
"Yep let's make other women feel like crap cuz their baby body doesn't look like that," someone sarcastically added, while another chimed in, "You'd leave her if she didn't 'bounce back' right away and we all know it. Also, this is especially gross of you because she has suffered from an eating disorder in the past."
Katharine gave birth to a son, her first child together with David, on February 22 after they married in June 2019. He is also a father to five daughters from three different women.
