AMAs 2021: Cardi B Pulls a Kanye West With Mask, Chloe Bailey Goes Daring on Red Carpet

Also turning heads that night for the annual award-giving event at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles are Olivia Rodrigo, who rocks a sequined lilac halter gown, and JoJo, who looks sexy in her sparkling silver cut-out dress.

AceShowbiz - The 2021 American Music Awards took place on Sunday night, November 21 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. Before the winners are announced in the awards-giving event, celebrities hit the red carpet in style. Among those who successfully turned heads that night were Cardi B, Chloe Bailey, Olivia Rodrigo as well as JoJo.

Cardi, who is hosting the AMAs for the first time, completely slayed her fit of the day. For the special occasion, the 29-year-old raptress arrived wearing a gold mask and black veil, leaving fans to compare her to Kanye West's default style and "Squid Game" VIPs.

Cardi was nearly unrecognizable at the event donning the mask that covered her entire face. The "WAP" hitmaker even had yellow-colored eye contacts. She accessorized with giant earrings that had eyes and fingers on them.

Adding more fashion statements, Cardi wore long black gloves and long gold nails. The "Bodak Yellow" rapper kept her dress a little simple, opting for a curve hugging black gown with a sweetheart neckline and a black veil.

While this will be her first time hosting, Cardi is no stranger to the award show, as she has won five AMA Awards over the years and is even a Grammy Award winner. "When I received the invite to host the AMAs, I was so excited," she said in a statement. "I'm ready to bring my personality to the AMAs stage!"

Meanwhile, Chloe arrived on the red carpet in Monsoori black velvet, cut-out dress. During the show, the "Grown-ish" star is expected to take the stage to perform her hit debut solo single "Have Mercy", which was released in September.

Olivia Rodrigo chose a lilac sequined David Koma gown with feather trim and plunging neckline for this year's awards show. The 18-year-old star is currently leading nominations for the ceremony as she has seven nominations. JoJo also looked sensational in her sparkling silver gown by Usama Ishtay with cut-out detailing on the hips.

K-Pop band BTS (Bangtan Boys) also made their red carpet arrival in Los Angeles after a long time. BTS wore complementary suits in shades of gray for this year's awards ceremony. "It took 2 years, now we come full circle. It feels really strange to hear the noise and it feels more special today because we're nominated for the Artist of the Year category," BTS leader RM said.

Unlike the AMAs 2020, when Machine Gun Kelly brought his gorgeous girlfriend Megan Fox, this time he arrived on the red carpet with his daughter Casie. The 31-year-old rapper wore a silver-studded black long sleeve and black pants with a spiked choker, while the 12-year-old girl donned a classic black cut-out gown.

Halle Bailey, in the meantime, chose a brown velvet LaQuan Smith lace-up gown for the star-studded event. She paired the dress with lace-up heels. Meanwhile, "Dancing with the Stars" season 30 contestant JoJo Siwa, who is usually known for her colorful outfits, opted for an elegant black dress with ruffle detailing and sheer stripes on the skirt for her first AMAs.

In the meantime, Billy Porter opted for a turquoise Botter suit with a matching umbrella hat for the award-giving event. Meanwhile, Erica Banks chose a seafoam green dress with corset bodice. As for Madelyn Cline, she donned a black gown with cut-out detailing which she paired with elbow-length gloves.

Arriving in floral printed outfits were 24kGoldn and Larray. For this year's awards, the "Valentino" rapper sported a black suit with a white floral pattern. As for the YouTube star, he opted for a colourful floral-patterned matching suit and trousers.

The 49th annual American Music Awards is currently underway. Among celebrities who take the stage to perform at the star-studded event are Bruno Mars, Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean, BTS, Olivia and Chloe.
