When asked to weigh in on her 'Empire' co-star's legal woes on the red carpet of the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, the Tiana Brown depicter acknowledges that it is 'a sensitive issue.'

AceShowbiz - "Empire" star Serayah McNeill is staying upbeat amid the drama surrounding her co-star Jussie Smollett.

The 36-year-old actor, who plays Jamal Lyon in the hip-hop drama, was recently charged with 16 felony counts for allegedly lying to police about being attacked by two men outside his apartment in Chicago, Illinois in January.

And McNeill, 23, who plays Tiana Brown on the show, touched upon her troubled co-star's legal woes as she spoke with Entertainment Tonight at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

"You know what, it's a sensitive issue," she shared. "But you know, I wish the best of luck to him and I'm sending prayers his way."

Smollett has vehemently denied the allegations.

The singer and actor is still appearing on episodes of the fifth season of "Empire", in scenes that were shot before his alleged attack in January. However, he has been written out of episodes he would have otherwise been expected to shoot, ET reports.

Taraji P. Henson, who also stars in "Empire", recently spoke about the Smollett scandal, and insisted it hasn't done much to disrupt the feeling on set.

"It's a great atmosphere," she said.
