A little over a week prior to this admission, Sophie makes use of her Instagram post to address negative comments over her decision to celebrate life instead of crying over her father's death.

AceShowbiz - Luke Perry's daughter is struggling to come to terms with the actor's death, explaining she was missing him "a little extra" on Saturday, March 23.

The former "Beverly Hills, 90210" star was just 52 when he passed away on March 4, five days after he was hospitalised following a massive stroke.

His 18-year-old girl, Sophie, has shared a few posts touching on her grieving process in the wake of his death, but this weekend was particularly rough for the teen, and she marked the sad occasion by posting an old photo of the smiling father and daughter sitting side-by-side in a car, as she snuggled a dog.

"Miss him a little extra today," she captioned the sweet image, adding two yellow heart emojis.

Sophie previously gave followers an insight into how she had been coping in the wake of the actor's loss as she honoured her mother, Rachel Sharp, for International Women's Day on March 8.

Posting a series of throwback shots of her parents, alongside a selfie of herself and Sharp, Sophie admitted her mum had been "the rock for everybody grieving in this family right now."

"She's the toughest and sweetest and most amazing woman I or anyone else has ever met," she added. "How did I get so lucky to have two icons for parents? I love you mom and I could not get through this absolute s**t situation without you. None of us could."

Although Sophie has been inundated with messages of condolence following Perry's death, she has also faced criticism from some Internet trolls over her decision to celebrate life as her father would have wanted, instead of moping around in grief.

Responding to the negative comments on March 11, she wrote, "YES I am hurt and sad and crying and beside myself with what happened to my dad. It's the worst thing to ever happen in my life. And I am torn the f**k up over it. But I'm not going to sit in my room and cry day in and day out until the internet has deemed it appropriate for me to do otherwise. And if you knew my dad you would know he wouldnt (sic) want me to. So you shouldn't either."

Luke and Rachel, who were married for a decade before they split in 2003, also shared a 21-year-old son, wrestler Jack Perry 'Jungle Boy'.

The actor had been preparing to wed for a second time - he and fiancee Wendy Madison Bauer had planned to tie the knot in Los Angeles in August after more than 11 years together.
