Many are overjoyed by the news of her win, with one fan saying that the songstress deserves it so much because songs off her album 'Golden Hour' are not played on country radio.

AceShowbiz - Winners of the 2018 Country Music Association Awards continue to be announced at the ceremony which was held on Wednesday, November 14. Following performances by Kelsea Ballerini and Carrie Underwood, Old Dominion took the stage to achieve the trophy for Vocal Group of the Year. The five-piece group defeated strong contenders such as Lady Antebellum and Little Big Town.

Not too long after that, Kacey Musgraves was presented with Album of the Year Award for her critically acclaimed effort "Golden Hour". Her win was a rather special one since she was the only female nominee in the category, which meant that she beat out all male competitors like Chris Stapleton, Keith Urban and Thomas Rhett.

Many fans were highly overjoyed by the news, congratulating the songstress for the win because she deserved it so much. "YES!!! The only female to be nominated for album of the year and she WON!!! Congratulations @KaceyMusgraves this was a much earned and deserved win!" one fan tweeted.

One other heaped praised for Kacey because she could win the accolade without getting her songs played on country radio. "Timeless records are worth way more than a forgettable # 1 single," so the said fan noted.

More country artists later entertained the audience with their show-stopping performances. Bebe Rexha once again joined forces with Florida Georgia Line for a ballad rendition of their hit "Meant to Be", while Keith wowed everyone with his performance. Meanwhile Garth Brooks debuted song for the love of his life Trisha Yearwood, "Stronger Than Me". It was really sweet!

It was time to announce the winner of Vocal Duo of the Year, which went to Brothers Osborne. The musical duo beat out Sugarland and fan-favorite Dan + Shay among others.

The 52nd annual Country Music Association Awards took place at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Kenny Chesney, who was nominated in Entertainer of the Year category, recently announced that he would not attend the ceremony due to the death of his family member.
