AceShowbiz - Kim Kardashian has landed in hot water because of her "offensive" Halloween costume. The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star has been accused of racism after she took to her Twitter account over the weekend to share a video of her channeling late singer Aaliyah.
"Baby Girl Aaliyah," so Kim wrote along with the video, which showed her wearing similar costume to Aaliyah's in the R'n'B icon's music video for "Try Again". The costume included a sequined bra and black leather pants as well as straight extensions just like the ones Aaliyah wore in the 2001 music video.

While Kim didn't seem to purposefully be offensive with her Halloween costume, many people took issue with her dressing up as the late singer, as Kim is half-Armenian and Aaliyah was African-American. "Legend or not Aaliyah is a black woman and you're not. It's offensive and you shouldn't push this limit, but ok...," one Twitter user told the 37-year-old reality TV star.
Another agreed, writing, "It's offensive because babygirl is DEAD & you can't pay hommage when you're an Armenian just using her look as a costume. That's the issue (sic)." One other user claimed Kim had added "extra tan," saying, "Yeah let's just let all things pass under the rug, huh? Never said it was blackface, but you can't tell me she didn't add a lil extra tan."
While many branded Kim's tribute "offensive," some others came to the KKW Beauty owner's defense, insisting that because she didn't use "blackface", her homage was okay. "Kimberly Kardashian West looks great dressed as Aaliyah. THAT is how you pay respect without doing Blackface. Great job," one commented. Another tweeted, "The people mad that Kim K. dressed up as Aaliyah only know the chorus to 'One In A Million'. Shut Up. Stop Being Bitter."
Kim has yet to comment on the controversy surrounding her Aaliyah Halloween costume. But the mother of two has been getting a lot of praise for her other costume ideas for this year's festive holiday. She previously dressed as Cher over the weekend, with her bestie Jonathan Cheban by her side dressing as Sonny Bono.
Kim and the longtime family pal were opting for the look worn by the legendary singer/actress and her then husband at the 1973 Oscars. Showing off her toned abs, the wife of rapper Kanye West wore an embellished yellow crop top and matching skirt while donning a long silky wig and gigantic hoop earrings. As for Jonathan, he channeled Sonny with his wig and mustache.

Kim then dressed up as Madonna in the following day. She was joined by her older sister Kourtney Kardashian, who dressed up as Michael Jackson. The Kardashian sisters recreated the famous look of the King and Queen of Pop at the Academy Awards in 1991.
