This March, we're going to have Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and The Flash (Grant Gustin) showcasing their singing skills in the highly-anticipated musical crossover of the two DC superheroes. The CW has unveiled the synopses for the episodes of the two-part event.
The synopsis of the upcoming "Star-Crossed" episode on "Supergirl" highlights the return of a new villain (guest star Teri Hatcher) who comes to National City, putting Supergirl on high alert. Meanwhile, Winn's girlfriend, Lyra, gets Winn (Jeremy Jordan) in trouble with the law. Maggie attempts to help Winn but old loyalties get in the way. The synopsis teases the appearance of the Music Meister (guest star Darren Criss) who attacks Supergirl.
Meanwhile, the synopsis of the upcoming episode of "The Flash", titled "Duet", shows that the upcoming crossover will be the complete opposite of last year's crossover between the two shows, in which everything primarily existed on "Supergirl". This time around, Mon-El (Chris Wood) and Hank Henshaw (David Harewood) are traveling to Earth-1 instead, hoping to get some help to save Kara.
Barry and team are surprised when Mon-El and Hank Henshaw arrived on their Earth. They carry a comatose Supergirl who was whammied by the Music Meister. Unable to wake her up, they turn to Team Flash to save her. However, the Music Meister surprises The Flash and puts him in a similar coma, one that Team Flash can't cure. Kara and Barry wake up without their powers in an alternate reality where life is like a musical and the only way to escape is by following the script, complete with singing and dancing, to the end.
The synopses suggest that the musical will take place in the two superheroes' minds, rather than in reality. Jesse L. Martin, Carlos Valdes and Jordan lend their voices to the series, along with "Legends of Tomorrow" stars Victor Garber and John Barrowman. The original songs featured on the musical crossover are provided by both "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" star Rachel Bloom and lyricists from Oscar-winning flick "La La Land" Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
The musical crossover will start at the end of "Supergirl" on Monday, March 20 at 8 P.M. ET, followed by "The Flash" episode airing on Tuesday, March 21 at 8 P.M. ET on The CW.
