Adele Named Top Music Legend of the Future

The 28-year-old award-winning singer beat her own pop idol Beyonce Knowles, who came in at No. 2 on the list with 32 percent of vote.

AceShowbiz - Adele adds another accolade to her impressive award collection. In a recent survey conducted by Mastercard, 50|percent| of British public voted Adele the top music legend of the future, who would stand the test of time.

The Grammy-winning singer even beat her own pop idol Beyonce Knowles, who came in at No. 2 on the list with 32|percent|. Coldplay, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran also made it into the top 10 along with Lady GaGa, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars and Robbie Williams.

Meanwhile, David Bowie was voted the most iconic musician in pop history. The late rock legend claimed the No. 1 spot ahead of The Beatles, Queen, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson, who all made the top five.

"Musical icons of tomorrow, such as Ed Sheeran, Adele and Beyonce, all possess the same vital traits which have made artists like David Bowie and The Beatles global successes; singing and songwriting is clearly a timeless art and speaks for itself," Nicola Grant, Mastercard's Head of Marketing for the U.K. and Ireland, said of the results. "People connect with that - it's the priceless side of music."

The result of the poll was released ahead of the 2017 BRIT Awards, which will take place on Wednesday, February 22 in London. British rapper Skepta and girlband Little Mix lead the nominees with three nods apiece, while Adele is only up for Video of the Year for "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)". Beyonce is pitted against her sister Solange Knowles, Rihanna and more in the International Female Solo Artist category.
