Hollywood stars flocked to Santa Monica, California for Independent Spirit Awards on February 27 one day before the highly-anticipated Oscars. Brie Larson, Cate Blanchett and Jessica Chastain were among the indie darlings dazzling on the blue carpet.

Larson was all smiles as she posed for photographers in her Chanel dress and Casadei heels. Blanchett turned heads with her Gucci nude dress decorated with vibrant applique designs. The latter actress lost the Best Female Lead title to the former.

Meanwhile, Chastain went with a blue dress by Elie Saab. The actress finished off her look with Roger Vivier shoes and a Piaget necklace. The redhead beauty served as one of the presenters at the event honoring the best in indie film.

Rachel McAdams added color with her Solace London dress, Rooney Mara opted for a black frock by Hugo Boss, Jessica Biel wore a blue-and-orange dress by Roland Mouret, and Emilia Clarke chose a Michael Kors collection.

Ian Somerhalder attended the event with his wife Nikki Reed while Jason Segel brought his girlfriend Alexis Mixter who stood out with her flaming red hair. Idris Elba, Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Mackie were in attendance as well.
