AceShowbiz - Brie Larson has unveiled her latest hair transformation for her role in Sophocles' "Elektra" at the Duke of York's Theatre in London. The Academy Award-winning actress, 35, has shaved her head for the West End revival, debuting a short buzz cut for the production.
In the makeup-free clip, Larson details the intricacies of the play's upcoming revival, explaining that it follows a woman seeking vengeance for her father's assassination. The production, directed by Daniel Fish, marks the play's first major revival in over a decade.
Larson also spoke about the unique rehearsal process and the play's minimalistic approach. "We are kind of honoring [the Greek tragedy's] roots by doing it in an empty theater along with contemporary items like a blimp and a revolved stage," she said.
The production features a stellar cast including Stockard Channing, Marième Diouf, Greg Hicks, and Patrick Vaill. Larson felt empowered by her role as Elektra, a woman who "refuses to let go of her pain, speaking loudly, being bold, being angry, shaving her head, spitting."
Prior to this buzz cut, Larson showed off a pixie cut with a darker brunette hue in November 2024.
"Elektra" will run in London until April 12, with performances commencing on February 5 after previews starting on January 24.
