Kate McKinnon and Kumail Nanjiani teamed up for hilarious sketches at the Independent Spirit Awards that they were hosting together on February 27 in Santa Monica, California. They spoofed nominated movies "Room" and "Carol".

In "Room" parody, McKinnon and Nanjiani played the roles originated by Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay as they got locked in their green room for seven years ahead of the hosting gig at the awards show. "Seven years! I missed Star Wars," he exclaimed.

Meanwhile, the "Carol" skit took place in a restaurant. The "Saturday Night Live" star did a hilarious impression of Cate Blanchett as she met Rooney Mara's character role while her co-host played a waiter. They were joined by Wanda Sykes and Jane Lynch.

"Room" got three nods and won two including Best Female Lead for Larson. "Carol" was nominated for five and took home Best Cinematography for Edward Lachman.
