Porsche refused to take the blame for the accident that cost the life of "Fast and Furious" actor Paul Walker. The luxury car company responded to the lawsuit filed by Walker's teenage daughter Meadow who thought that Porsche was responsible for the death.
Meadow stated in the lawsuit that the accident taking place two years ago was the result of design flaws. The actor allegedly survived the crash but died when he got trapped inside the burning vehicle. "It is with great reluctance that Meadow Walker has authorized the filing of this lawsuit on her own behalf and as heir to Paul Walker's estate," Meadow's lawyer Jeff Milam said Monday, September 28. "She's a teenage girl still dealing with the tragic loss of her father."
The 2005 Carrera GT belonged to Walker's friend Roger Rodas who was behind the wheels at that time. Law enforcement officials said the car was going 80 to 93 MPH before Rodas lost control and hit the car into a tree. Rodas also died in the incident.
"As we have said before, we are very sad whenever anyone is hurt in a Porsche vehicle, but we believe the authorities' reports in this case clearly establish that this tragic crash resulted from reckless driving and excessive speed," Porsche said in a statement.
Meadow was preempted by Rodas' widow Kristine who filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche last year. Porsche responded earlier this year, "Roger Rodas's death, and all other injuries or damages claimed, were the result of Roger Rodas's own comparative fault."
