Sarah Silverman's mother, Beth Ann O'Hara, died last week at the age of 73 and the comedian has taken to Twitter on Monday, August 24 to pay touching tribute to her. She posted alongside the lengthy tribute a throwback photo of her late mother.

"Wednesday morning my mom died," 44-year-old Silverman began her tribute. "She was a know-it-all in overalls & two different colored socks. And defiantly, no bra."

"The woman who, when I was little, gave me detailed directions to a restaurant ladies room then secretly watched as I found my way to it on my own," the comedian continued. "The woman who went back to college at 42, and skinny dipped in ponds, and told me never to protect myself from a broken heart because it was so very worth the pain to get to experience love."

Beth was known to have been very passionate about the theater and had founded the New Thalian Players in New Hampshire and produced and directed 50 plays over 25 years. She, according to New Hampshire Public Radio, was known simply as "mom" to a number of aspiring actors.
