The 'Stay With Me' singer admits he hasn't been offered to sing the theme for 'Spectre' and reveals he heard rumors that Goulding's wanted for the job.

AceShowbiz - There have been rumors that Sam Smith is eyed to sing the theme of the next "James Bond" film, "Spectre". The British superstar has expressed desire to do the job, but he ruled himself out as potential contender in a new interview with Capital FM.

"People seem to think I'm doing it but I have no idea what's going on. I'm being deadly serious. I think I would know by now," he said before revealing that fellow British singer Ellie Goulding might be the one who sings the "Spectre" theme. "I heard Ellie Goulding was going to do it, it's definitely not me," he added.

Other names in contention to sing the tune include Ed Sheeran, Lana Del Rey, Rita Ora and One Direction. Whoever chosen will follow in the footsteps of Paul McCartney, Madonna and Tina Turner and Adele among others.

"Spectre" will see Daniel Craig reprising his role as agent 007. Sam Mendes is back as director. The 24th "James Bond" movie is scheduled for release later this year.
