One Direction posted a video on Twitter to ask their fans to be involved in Red Nose Day, May 21. They wrote in the caption, "USA! The guys have a favour to ask about #RedNose Day. Please take the time to watch this."
The video opened with Harry Styles admitting that they were "massive supporters of Red Nose Day." Niall Horan then said that they had "been in Ghana and seen the overwhelming needs with our own eyes. We know your money can change a lot of kids' lives." As Niall talked about their visit to Ghana, the footage of their visit appeared on the video showing the real situation of that country.

Louis Tomlinson mentioned that another thing people could do was to "donate." He continued, "Help us use the power of social media to help kids in desperate situations."
Red Nose Day, founded by Jane Tewson and Richard Curtis, first began in 1985 with a live broadcast from a refugee camp in Sudan. The campaign which began in the U.K. is primarily to raise funds for children and young people living in poverty around the world. This year, the charity event starts in the U.S. with the inaugural airing on NBC. The event consists of live musical and comedy performances, taped segments produced by Funny or Die, and some short films.
Some celebrities, including Reese Witherspoon, Anne Hathaway and Vanessa Williams, showed their support to this event by posting pictures of themselves wearing red nose on social media. During this event, people are encouraged to buy red plastic clown noses and thereby donate to the charity.
