Freshman drama 'Stalker' is also axed, while 'Limitless' TV adaptation, 'Code Black', 'Angel from Hell' and 'Life in Pieces' are among the pilots picked up to series.

AceShowbiz - "Battle Creek" and "Stalker" are among freshman series which didn't make the cut on CBS. The network has reportedly canceled the cop drama from "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan and "House M.D." creator David Shore, as well as the psychological thriller starring Maggie Q and Dylan McDermott.

Rookie comedy "The McCarthys", whose doomed fate had been long predicted, has been formally canceled, too, although the network won't make any official statements until next week.

CBS has additionally added some new series to its line-up for the next TV season. They are adaptations of "Rush Hour" and "Limitless", a new "Criminal Minds" spin-off, medical drama "Code Black", as well as comedies "Angel from Hell" and "Life in Pieces".

"Rush Hour", based on the blockbuster movie franchise starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, follows a stoic, by-the-book Hong Kong police officer (Jon Foo) who is assigned to a case in Los Angeles, where he's forced to work with a cocky African-American LAPD officer (Justin Hires) who has no interest in a partner.

"Limitless" series is based on the 2011 feature film of the same name. The small-screen adaptation centers on Brian Finch (Jake McDorman) who discovers the power of the mysterious drug MZT, and is coerced into using his new drug-enhanced abilities to solve weekly cases for the FBI. Jennifer Carpenter, Hill Harper and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio are also starring.

"Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" focuses on a division of the FBI that helps American citizens who find themselves in danger abroad. The pilot was aired as a planted episode in the mothership series on February 8. Gary Sinise, Daniel Henney and Tyler James are among the cast.

"Code Black" is based on the 2014 documentary of the same name. It is set in the busiest and most notorious ER in the nation, where the staff confronts a broken system in order to protect their ideals and the patients who need them the most. Marcia Gay Harden leads the cast, which also includes Bonnie Somerville, Raza Jaffrey, Luis Guzman, Melanie Kannokada, Harry M. Ford, Ben Hollingsworth and William Allen Young.

"Angel from Hell" stars "Glee" alum Jane Lynch as well as former "Psych" star Maggie Lawson. When Amy (Lynch) enters the life of Allison (Lawson) and claims to be her guardian angel, they form an unlikely friendship, and Allison can't be sure if Amy is an angel or just nuts.

"Life in Pieces" is a comedy about one family told through the separate stories of its different family members. Dianne Wiest, James Brolin, Zoe Lister Jones, Colin Hanks, Angelique Cabral, Thomas Sadoski and Betsy Brandt are starring on it.
