CBS plans a primetime special to send off David Letterman. The network has announced a 90-minute primetime special called "David Letterman: A Life On Television" to pay tribute to the longtime late-night show host and his legendary career.

The farewell special will air May 4 at 9:30 P.M. and will be hosted by actor/stand-up comedian Ray Romano. The special will feature highlights of some of the best of Letterman's interviews and Letterman's trademark show segments, as well as some of the most important and poignant moments he has given audiences.

Letterman will sign out from CBS' "Late Show", which he has hosted for 22 years, on May 20. Stephen Colbert has been tapped to replace him. The premiere date for the new "Late Show" hasn't been announced.
