Dr. Phil McGraw makes a clarification over his comments on Bruce Jenner transition. Prior to his clarification, McGraw said on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" that Jenner's transition was pointless since Jenner is now almost 80.

Following the interview with Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday, April 22, McGraw clarified in a statement to PEOPLE, "I've said long and loud it's never too late to make a life change, and I'm personally cheering him on. I'm glad he's decided to set himself free in order to live his life authentically. It's his life and his body and his decision - more power to him."

Although he said that he was glad with Jenner's decision, the doctor previously made fun of Jenner's transition. When Kimmel asked whether he was disappointed because Jenner would do an interview with Diane Sawyer instead of coming to his show, McGraw answered, "It would be boring to talk to me about that. First off, I would say, 'Look.. If it's what you want to do, do it! What the hell's it matter what anybody else thinks?' That would be my point."

McGraw continued by explaining what would happen if Jenner really came to his show, "That'd be the first 30 seconds, and then I guess we'd spend the next hour and 59 minutes saying, 'You're almost 80, what's the point? This is a theoretical exercise, right?' I mean, he's kind of, like past his prime, right?"

McGraw said that he had met Jenner and he admitted that Jenner is a good guy, "I'll tell you what. He's a hell of a nice guy."

Amidst media attention to his gender transition with many people out there talking about him, Jenner still has family who supports him. During the interview with Sawyer that will air on Friday, April 24, Jenner is supported by his children, Brandon and Brody Jenner, from his first two marriages to Chrystie Crownover and Linda Thompson.
