Kelly Clarkson returned to "American Idol" more than a decade after winning the first season of the singing competition. The 32-year-old star appeared in the Wednesday, April 1 episode of the show and treated the crowd and viewers to a live rendition of her hit "Heartbeat Song".

Looking gorgeous in a red dress, Clarkson was joined by a band and a couple of backing vocalists as she tackled the upbeat track off her latest album "Piece by Piece". The show's host Ryan Seacrest as well as judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. were spotted enjoying the performance in the audience.

"Heartbeat Song" wasn't the only song she performed on the show. Later that night, the mother of one returned to the stage in a red-and-black outfit for a cover of Etta James "At Last". That's the same song she sang to impress former judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell in her first audition thirteen years ago.
