TV

Qaasim Middleton and Quentin Alexander are among the boys who make it to the top 8 and continue to shine in the Wednesday, March 4 episode.

AceShowbiz - Following their performances last week, the fate of the top 12 boys of "American Idol" season 14 was revealed on Wednesday night, March 4. Aretha Franklin, who served as guest mentor, kicked off the show with a rendition of "I Will Survive".

The first to be announced safe was Daniel Seavey, who then sang "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)" by Marvin Gaye. Keith Urban loved the song choice. Jennifer Lopez noticed that he's more relaxed this week, but thought that the song was a bit too low.

Mark Andrew also made it through, singing "Papa Was a Rollin Stone" by The Temptations. J.Lo loved his voice, but added, "Something about the song wasn't connecting with me." Harry Connick Jr., meanwhile, called it a "jam band" performance.

Rayvon Owen was the next to be called on the stage. He performed "My Girl" also by The Temptations. The judges liked it, but Harry "wanted to see more" weight. J.Lo praised him that he made the song his own.

Adam Ezegelian also earned a spot in the top 8. He sang "I Want You Back" by Jackson 5 and the judges liked the arrangement. "That was the perfect song for you," Keith gushed, as Harry praised his voice.

Clark Beckham played his guitar while singing "The Tracks of My Tears" by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles. In-house mentor Scott Borchetta said Clark had one of the best voices in the competition, but J.Lo advised him to let loose on the stage. Keith, meanwhile, thought it would've been better if it had been simpler with just Clark and his guitar without the band.

Nick Fradiani took the stage next, singing Stevie Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)". Harry loved the performance, but Keith said Nick didn't look comfortable with his guitar and wished that he had ditched it.

Qaasim Middleton was next to be deemed safe. He sang Wonder's "I Wish" and earned rave reviews from the judges. "You own that stage," J.Lo declared. Harry said Qaasim was exactly what they're looking for.

The last spot in the top 8 belonged to Quentin Alexander, who then sang another Wonder song, "Master Blaster". "That was so smooth," J.Lo commented. Harry also liked it, but thought that he was a bit nervous because he was the last boy picked.

The top 8 girls will be revealed on Thursday night at 8 P.M. on FOX.
