FOX confirms discussions to bring back the David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson-starring series and express interest to revive the Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller-led show.

There are indeed talks at FOX to revive their classic supernatural procedural series "The X-Files". Speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour this weekend, Dana Walden and Gary Newman, executives at the network, confirm they are planning to reboot the show.

"It's true that we've had some conversations on X-Files," Newman dished on. "We're hopeful of being able to bring that back at some point." If the project happens, they hope the original stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are going to reprise their roles.

Walden said, "Gary and I both worked [at 20th Century Fox Television] through the entire run of The X Files. It was a great experience. We've maintained good relationships with [series creator] Chris [Carter], David and Gillian. We're very hopeful, but it's hard. The actors are very busy. They have a lot going on. Chris has a lot on his plate, so it's just trying to carve out the time."

Anderson herself once commented on the possibility of returning to the series. "I need to wrap my brain around what that would entail," she told E! News. "I live in London. I've got three kids, it's not a small proposition and it would take a lot longer to shoot than a movie would. I need to think about that."

Meanwhile, the rumored "Prison Break" reboot "honestly was slightly news to us," Newman said. "Although we've made it clear over the years to the studio that we would bring 'Prison Break' back in a heartbeat. It's probably the perfect event series. If our old partners in that show are interested, that would be great."

The original actors Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller are currently playing recurring roles on The CW's "The Flash", but they are open to reprising their roles as brothers Michael and Lincoln on the possible "Prison Break" revival.
