In a press release, Warner Bros. announces 'at least' ten of its future DC Comics tentpoles put on schedule for releases from 2016 until 2020.

AceShowbiz - It is no secret that Warner Bros. is planning a full-fledge superhero movies war against Marvel Studios. CEO Kevin Tsujihara just made a major announcement on Wednesday, October 15, lining up the studio's ten DC Comics adaptations in between 2016 and 2020.

First in the list is "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" which has nabbed Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg and Henry Cavill among others. The pic will be released on August 5, 2016, directed by Zack Snyder. Gadot's Wonder Woman will be introduced in this flick before the character gets her own movie in 2017.

"Suicide Squad" is confirmed in development for a 2016 release with David Ayer on board to direct. Focusing on a team of imprisoned supervillains, the comic book adaptation may feature Deadshot, Vixen, Blockbuster, Multiplex, Jaculi, Mindboggler, and Harkness a.k.a. Captain Boomerang. There are rumors that WB is eying A-listers including Ryan Gosling, Margot Robbie, Tom Hardy and Will Smith to play the supervillains.

The long-awaited "Justice League Part One" arrives on November 12, 2017, followed by "Justice League Part Two" on June 14, 2019. Everyone from Affleck to Gadot to Adams are set to reprise their roles in the first part, but the press release did not list their names in the second part yet. Both installments will be directed by Zack Snyder.

"The Flash" movie will hit theaters in 2018, featuring Ezra Miller as the titular character. Since it is four years away, it is quite possible that he would make cameo first in "Justice League Part One" or "Batman v Superman". WB has not made it clear which version of The Flash; Barry Allen or Wally West; that the movie will adapt. Miller, aged 22, is quite a young choice to play the speedy superhero.

Hitting theaters in 2018, "Aquaman" is confirmed to star Jason Momoa. Chief Creative Officer of the DC Entertainment brand, Geoff Johns, previously said that the character was priority for WB. The studio ordered "300: Rise of an Empire" writer Kurt Johnstad to write one script and "Gangster Squad" writer Will Beall to pen another. The best version that comes out of the two will eventually be selected.

"Shazam" will storm the theaters in 2019. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson previously confirmed that he would play villain Black Adam in the first movie about the wizard. "It feels to me like Shazam will have a tone unto itself," New Line's president Toby Emmerich told EW. "It's a DC comic, but it's not a Justice League character, and it's not a Marvel comic. The tone and the feeling of the movie will be different from the other range of comic book movies."

In 2020, WB will have "Cyborg" and "Green Lantern (2020)". Ray Fisher will tackle the role of Victor Stone a.k.a. Cyborg and officially become the first African-American actor to star in a standalone superhero comic book movie since Wesley Snipes' turn in "Blade". The new Green Lantern movie will arrive nine years after the one starring Ryan Reynolds opened in theaters and made $220 million worldwide.

It's worth to take a note that these ten DC movies are "at least." WB said that it's working on two more DC movies, a solo Superman movie starring Cavill, and a standalone Batman film starring Affleck. "At Warner Bros., we are united to not only continue to create the world's greatest entertainment content, but to over-deliver on our financial targets," said Tsujihara. "I've been with the company for over 20 years and I can't remember a time when I've felt more confident about our future."
