Aretha Franklin Covers Adele's 'Rolling in the Deep' for Upcoming 'Great Diva Classics' Album

Set to be released on October 21 via RCA Records, the veteran singer's new album will feature her covers of songs by fellow female acts like Sinead O' Connor and Alicia Keys.

AceShowbiz - Aretha Franklin released her cover of "Rolling in the Deep" on Monday, September 29. The superstar's version of Adele's monstrous hit single serves as the first offering from her upcoming covers album which is scheduled to arrive next month.

The LP titled "Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics" is due out on October 21 via RCA Records. In addition to Adele's song, it will feature covers of Etta James' "At Last", Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U", Barbra Streisand's "People", Alicia Keys' "No One" and others.

Franklin co-produced the album with longtime collaborator Clive Davis. Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and Andre 3000 a.k.a. Andre Benjamin are among other names involved in the project.

"She's on fire and vocally in absolutely peak form," Davis told Billboard. "What a thrill to see this peerless artist still showing the way, still sending shivers up your spine, still demonstrating that all contemporary music needs right now is the voice. What a voice." He additionally said that new recording "is purely and simply sensational."
