Though "There Will Be Blood" and "No Country for Old Men" have proved that they are the film critics' favorites, they will have to be up against another stiff competitor "Atonement" as the latter was nominated for 6 categories by the 2007 Online Film Critics Society as the former two films.

The Joe Wright's picture garnered gongs for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Editing challenging the domination of the two favorite films. Apart from the three nominations, it also received nods for Best Cinematography in which "No Country" was also nominated, and Best Score facing "Blood" among others. Additionally, the drama movie scored nomination for its actress Saoirse Ronan who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

Despite garnering many counts, the Keira Knightley-starring film didn't manage to put its director in the race to get Best Director prize, instead Joel and Ethan Coen, the directors of "No Country", and Paul Thomas Anderson, the helmer of "Blood" are the ones who will fight against each other and three others for the honor. The three renowned directors will be up against David Cronenberg for "Eastern Promises", David Fincher for "Zodiac" and Julian Schnabel for "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly".

Under the category of Best Actress, the five nominated actress were Julie Christie for "Away From Her", Marion Cotillard for "La Vie En Rose", Angelina Jolie for "A Mighty Heart", Laura Linney for "The Savages" and Ellen Page for "Juno". Meanwhile, the Best Actors nods went to George Clooney, Daniel Day-Lewis, Emile Hirsch, Frank Langella and Viggo Mortensen.
