Preceded by CMT Music Awards last month, this year's Academy of Country Music Awards boast similar faces in the guest list. The May 15 night event has presented its performers and called the winners one by one.

Two times winner Kenny Chesney secured its third winning for the category Entertainer of the Year, beating this year's frontrunner George Strait. With the winning, he becomes one out of three artists to take the award three times in a row. The beaten Strait meanwhile, took other trophies in two categories, Single of the Year and Song of the Year both for "Give It Away".

Carrie Underwood who has been excelling her career since American Idol went home clutching three trophies. She picked up Female Vocalist, Video Music for "Before He Cheats" and Album of the Year for "Some Hearts". Among the tracks in the album, she has chosen to perform "Wasted" that night. Meanwhile, the male contenders in Vocalist of the Year had to give up the chance of winning to West Virginian singer Brad Paisley. Duo Brooks & Dunn who had 7 nominations at hand won its Duo/Vocal Group Award for the 14th time.

Next to announce was the New Vocalists awards which are won by Miranda Lambert in the Female side and Rodney Atkins in the other. This year's Duo or Vocal Group award is snatched by Little Big Town that stopped at being nominated for the same category last year. And in what has become a prediction, Rascal Flatts won its fifth trophy for Vocal Group of the Year.

Academy of Country Music Awards has reached its 42nd cycle and is hosted by Reba McEntire again this year. Most of the artists nominated this year are performing with the addition of Kelly Clarkson as guest artist. Teen country star Taylor Swift brought a moment to the stage when she sang her "Tim McGraw" song while meeting McGraw in person for the first time.
