The 'Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' presenter is going to take up the torch from last year's host Ricky Gervais.

AceShowbiz - The upcoming 74th annual Golden Globe Awards has found its emcee. During the Television Critics Association's press tour in Beverly Hills, Jimmy Fallon was announced by NBC to host the prestigious event airing live from the Beverly Hilton on January 8, 2017.

"I'm so excited to be hosting The Golden Globes in January," the funnyman quipped on Twitter as soon as the news broke out. "And I'm really looking forward to spending time with the Hollywood Foreign Press before Donald Trump has them all deported."

Fallon has a long history with NBC. He was once a member of "Saturday Night Live" before hosting "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" and then "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon".

"We're thrilled to announce Jimmy as host of The 74th Annual Golden Globes," NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt says. "This is the most spontaneous and uninhibited award show on television, and Jimmy's playful, disarming comedic brilliance makes him the ideal host to enhance and elevate the sense of fun and irreverence that's made the Golden Globes one of the premier events of the entire broadcast year."

Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes from 2010-2012 and returned this year. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the ceremony from 2013-2015.
