'Fast and Furious 8' to Film Big Explosion in Iceland

The 'Fast and Furious 8' crew has reportedly planned to film a scene involving 'the largest explosion ever in Iceland.'

AceShowbiz - Director F. Gary Gray will partly film "Fast and Furious 8" in Arkanes, Iceland, according to Visir. The town mayor, Regina Asvaldsdottir, confirmed the report and said that Vin Diesel and the film crew members would arrive in April.

Of what scene which would take place in Arkanes, the news outlet reported that the crew planned to make "the largest explosion ever in Iceland." In addition to shooting in Arkanes, the director will reportedly film "Fast 8" in Cuba and Russia.

"Surely, this is a major project and will affect retail and service in town," Regina told the news outlet regarding the positive effect of the movie to her town. Local residents are reportedly excited after learning that the sequel to "Furious 7" will partly be filmed in their town.

As Universal Pictures stated earlier, the studio "is currently in the process seeking approval from the United States and Cuban governments to explore shooting a portion of the next installment of the 'Fast & Furious' series in Cuba." However, the majority of filming will take place in New York and Atlanta.

In "Fast 8", Diesel will reprise his role as Dominic Toretto. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jason Statham and Kurt Russell also star in the movie. The street-racing movie will be released in North America on April 14, 2017.
