First 'Assassin's Creed' Set Photo Arrives
Movie

The photo shows Michael Fassbender in costume as Callum Lynch during a scene set in present day.

AceShowbiz - As production is currently underway, a photo from the set of "Assassin's Creed" has arrived online. The photo shows Michael Fassbender wearing a costume as he portrays Callum Lynch.

The protagonist character is facing a wall with the words "Progress requires sacrifice" written on it. It is not clear what happens in the scene, but it appears to be set in present day. The film will go back and forth between present and past, as Lynch uses a futuristic technology that unlocks his genetic memories and allows him to travel back in time. The marks on the back of Fassbender's neck are presumably the effect of using the technology known as Animus.

In the upcoming movie, Lynch is able to experience the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th century Spain. He discovers that he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, who have been battling the Knights Templar for centuries.

"Assassin's Creed" is based on Ubisoft video game of the same name. Fassbender is joined by the likes of Marion Cotillard ("Macbeth") and Michael K. Williams ("12 Years a Slave") in the cast. The action fantasy movie is scheduled to open in North America on December 21, 2016.
