Idris Elba, Robert Pattinson, James Franco on Board 'The Trap'
Movie

Elba has been set to play the role of a gangster rap artist, while both Pattinson and Franco are still in final negotiations to join the cast.

AceShowbiz - As Focus Features is in final talks to acquire the U.S. rights to "The Trap", it has been confirmed that Idris Elba has been attached to star. Set to replace Jamie Foxx in the Harmony Korine-directorial thriller-crime flick, the actor will be portraying the role of a gangster rap artist with fellow film star Benicio Del Toro as his best friend who took the fall for a robbery they committed years earlier.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, "The Trap" will tell the story of Rico (Elba) who is "at the top of his career and about to enjoy a triumphant night at the Grammy Awards when Slim (Del Toro) is released from prison after 14 years. Slim is determined to exact revenge after learning that Rico not only achieved fame and fortune but also married his girlfriend and raised Slim's son as his own." In the meantime, it has been reported that Al Pacino, Robert Pattinson, and James Franco are still in final talks to join the cast.

Focus Features declined to comment on a single detail of the upcoming movie. Should a deal be reached, Pattinson will be on board playing the role of a surfer who helps Del Toro exact revenge, while Franco will play Elba's drug-addled manager, and Pacino will play Del Toro's parole officer.

In addition to directing, Harmony Korine serves as the film's screenwriter. John Lesher and Charles-Marie Anthonioz are on hand producing. Release date has not yet been set.
