First Top 24 Contestants on 'American Idol' Revealed

Half of the top 24 are revealed in the Wednesday, February 18 episode of the singing show's season 14 which ends with a cliffhanger.

AceShowbiz - "American Idol" has revealed half of the top 24 contestants of season 14. In Wednesday, February 18 episode, the top 48 contestants tried to show their best and impress audience as well as the judges consisting of Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban at L.A.'s House of Blues. Only 12 men and 12 women would go the next level.

The first performer trying to woo the audience was Michael Simeon, who was later confirmed to be the first one to advance to top 24. Performing "My Heart Will Go On", Loren Lott also advanced to the next round. Adam Ezegelian, who belted out Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again", was another contestant who was given a slot in top 24.

After Cody Fry failed to woo the judges with Coldplay's "Viva la Vida", Lovey James secured a position in top 24 by singing Little Mix's "Wings". Later on, five people were given "no" answers before Adanna Duru went to the top 24. Singing "Man's Man's Man's World", Duru showcased amazing vocals.

Next on the show, people witnessed a sing-off between Maddie Walker and Rachel Hallack. Walker performed Fergie a.k.a. Stacy Ferguson's "Big Girls Don't Cry" for the Wednesday episode. The judges initially said "no" to her, but then they told her to have a sing-off with Rachel Hallack. Walker eventually advanced to the top 24.

Clark Beckham impressed the judges when he performed Ray Charles' "Georgia on My Mind" with the piano and was given a spot in the top 24. The 15-year-old boy Daniel Seavey who sang Paula Abdul's "Straight Up", Tyanna Jones who performed Beyonce Knowles' "Love on Top", Rayvon Owens who performed Sam Smith's "Lay Me Down" and Shannon Berthiaume who chose Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart" were added to the top 24.

Jax was the next in line to perform. She delivered a rendition of Lady GaGa's "You and I" with the piano and paused mid-song. Of the decision, Jax said she wanted to "take a moment to give anticipation to the crowd" and "confuse people." The contestant, whose father was a 9/11 responder, advanced to top 24.

The last contestant to perform was Hollywood Anderson. The episode, however, ended on a cliffhanger. The result for Anderson as well as the rest in top 24 will be revealed on Thursday.
