'Boyhood' Leads Nominations at 2014 Gotham Film Awards

Richard Linklater's movie scores four nods, followed by 'Birdman', 'Dear White People', 'Nightcrawler', and 'Under the Skin' with two each.

AceShowbiz - "Boyhood" which was filmed over the course of 12 years dominates the nominations at the 24th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards. The film leads the pack with four nominations for Best Feature, Best Actor (Ethan Hawke), Best Actress (Patricia Arquette), and Breakthrough Actor (Ellar Coltrane).

In the Best Feature category, Richard Linklater's movie faces off Alejandro G. Inarritu's superhero satire "Birdman", Wes Anderson's "The Grand Budapest Hotel", Scarlett Johansson starrer "Under the Skin", and a dramedy about an elderly gay couple "Love Is Strange".

To win Best Actor prize, Hawke battles it out with Bill Hader ("The Skeleton Twins"), Oscar Isaac ("A Most Violent Year"), Michael Keaton ("Birdman"), and Miles Teller ("Whiplash"). Meanwhile, Arquette has to fight Gugu Mbatha-Raw ("Beyond the Lights"), Julianne Moore ("Still Alice"), ScarJo ("Under the Skin"), and Mia Wasikowska ("Tracks").

The 2014 Gotham Best Actor nominating panel also voted to award a special Gotham Jury Award jointly to Steve Carell, Mark Ruffalo, and Channing Tatum for their ensemble performance in true-story pic "Foxcatcher".

The winner will be selected by online voting of IFP (Independent Filmmaker Project) members. Voting begins November 19 at 12:01 A.M. EST and concludes on November 26 at 5:00 P.M. EST. The Gotham Awards ceremony will be held on Monday, December 1 at Cipriani Wall Street.
