'Avengers: Age of Ultron' hints at the superheroes' doom, 'Ant-Man' reveals the villain, while 'Guardians of the Galaxy' sequel is set for 2017.

AceShowbiz - Marvel's panel at the San Diego Comic-Con drew big crowd Saturday, July 26. The studio unveiled the first footage of upcoming flicks "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Ant-Man" and revealed the release date of the sequel to soon-to-be-released "Guardians of the Galaxy".

The "Avengers 2" panel was crowded by cast members like Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Aaron Johnson (Quicksilver), Paul Bettany (The Vision), James Spader (voice of Ultron), and Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch).

Marvel's head Kevin Feige was present as well, but director Joss Whedon who recently tweeted about having a knee injury and Black Widow depicter Scarlett Johansson who is expecting her first child were absent. ScarJo, however, appeared in a video message to introduce the first footage from the upcoming Earth's Mightiest Heroes movie.

The video shows the superheroes at the Tony Stark tower trying to pick up Thor's hammer. Everyone makes a go, but all fail including Stark even if he uses his Iron Man hand on. Only Captain America is able to move it a fraction. The party is cut short when Ultron shows up unannounced. The footage ends with a scene that shows all the heroes lying dead and Captain America's shield is left broken. Tony Stark is the only one left standing.

"Ant-Man" panel was attended by Michael Douglas, Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Corey Stoll. It was Douglas and Rudd's first time at the Comic-Con. "I'm popping my Comic-Con cherry," Rudd joked, while Douglas quipped, "I've popped enough cherries." Peyton Reed who replaces director Edgar Wright also joined the crew.

Lilly who was also in town to support another of her movies "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" was revealed to play Hope Pym, the daughter of Hank Pym. Stoll was announced to portray Darren Cross who later dons the villainous mantle of Yellowjacket. Meanwhile, Douglas and Rudd were already confirmed to play Dr. Hank Pym and Scott Lang respectively prior to the event.

New footage of the movie was displayed, much to the crowd's delight. It shows Scott Lang riding a flying insect that Hank Pym, via voice-over, is instructing him to control. "Paul is in great shape that the Ant-Man Henry-Pym-Ant-Man-Mighty-Avengers-5-Marvel-Comicsbody suit, we had to soften up," Reed explained. "We're actually using CGI to remove muscles."

On the plot point, Douglas dished, "This is a story of a heist, and my partner played by Corey Stoll is taking the company in a different direction." Stoll added, "Some judgmental people says it's an evil direction."

Before Marvel's presentation ended, a video featuring James Gunn and Chris Pratt was shown. The director of "Guardians of the Galaxy" and the Star Lord depicter were seen having a banter. They were giggling, talking about how mad Feige would be if they revealed the sequel's release date, which is July 28, 2017.
