That happens because the "Iron Man" star has been chosen to portray a legendary master detective in Guy Richie's feature film project "Sherlock Holmes".
Nailing the titular character part, the 43-year-old actor joins the project after British filmmaker Guy Richie allegedly showed him the polished version of the movie's script. In re-imagining Holmes, the leading man of "Zodiac" is expected to display a more adventurous side of the witty detective. Depicting this character will be Downey Jr.'s first job after his highly successful "Iron Man".

The acclaimed actor allegedly will be depicting Hefner in "Playboy" after getting thumbs up from the 'bunny' master himself.
Report from Chicago Sun-Times claimed that the 82-year-old Hefner wants Downey Jr. to play him in the biopic after he saw the actor in "Iron Man". From Downey Jr.'s side, his representative let out that the co-star of Ben Stiller and Jack Black in "Tropic Thunder" is indeed interested in the project but won't make it a done deal until the script is ready and a director has been signed.

However, before fans could put high hopes on "Iron Man 2", the excitement has been toned down with the news stating that director Jon Favreau has not to be signed for the follow-up movie and now report also suggests that the returning of its star Robert Downey Jr. is yet a done deal.
The speculation on the uncertainty of Downey Jr.'s signing broke out following the reluctance of Marvel Studio executives in confirming the actor's involvement on the sequel during first-quarter financial results conference call on Wednesday, May 7. It is further rumored that the studio have to offer the "Zodiac" star with a more lucrative deal to secure his participation in the sequel. To add more fuel to the rumor, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 43-year-old refuses to justify his contract stating, "I really don't know. What I'm on board for right now is the ride home. I don't want to start talking out of my league, because that would have certainly been my inclination in the past. I kind of know how to keep my teeth together a little better than I used to."

In an interview with MovieHole, the director of "Iron Man", Jon Favreau, hinted that the 43-year-old actor maybe reprising his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the various superheroes movie.
According to the site, the director is pretty sure that Downey Jr. may return as the hero in the film based on the Marvel's comic book of the same title. "Downey Jr may be back as Iron Man - possibly even in a film that unites many of the Marvel superheroes. "The Avengers," based on the comic book title of the same name, sees several classic heroes coming together. It's been in early development for a few months now. Favreau believes it'll definitely happen," read the article.

Getting another Oscar-recognized talent following Jamie Foxx, DreamWorks Pictures has picked up Robert Downey Jr. to accompany the "Ray" actor as his co-lead in "The Soloist", Variety has informed.
Here Downey Jr., fresh from "Iron Man" filming, will assume the role of Steve Lopez, the L.A. Times columnist who discovered the abundant talent of Foxx's schizophrenic character Nathaniel Ayers as a violinist. The Lopez in real life has written a number of columns about the music prodigy as well as a book which is slated to hit stores next spring.

Keeping a balance between his comedic and dramatic roles, Robert Downey Jr. is coming onboard alongside Jay Baruchel to star in "Tropic Thunder", a comedic feature which marks Ben Stiller's return to feature directing field after his 2001 work of "Zoolander."
Slated to enter production July this year under DreamWorks SKG banner, the project revolves around five actors who find out that everything goes wrong during the making of a big-budget war movie and end up being the commandos they are portraying. Downey married producer Susan Levin Saturday at a private home in the Hamptons in the Long Island town of Amagansett, People magazine and the TV news magazine Entertainment Tonight reported Saturday.
Some guests attending the wedding included the likes of Keanu Reeves, Billy Joel, Sting and Ellen Barkin, according to People magazine. Sting and Joel reportedly performed at the evening ceremony.

"Fur," which will be based on Patricia Bosworth's "Diane Arbus: A Biography" tells about Arbus who was known for her photo images of eccentric personalities from the 1950s and '60s and committed suicide in 1971, and to be directed by Steven Shainberg, is set to begin next month and continue through July.
