The Star of 'A Knight's Tale' Cast in 'The Secret Life of Bees'
January 11, 2008 08:01:51Paul Bettany is the latest additional cast member of Fox Searchlight's drama "The Secret Life of Bees". According to reports, the English actor has joined the drama film directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood as T. Ray Owens, a widower who is the father of the film's 14-year-old central character, Lily Owens.
"The Secret Life of Bees" is based on a novel wrote by Sue Monk Kidd. It tells the story about Lily and her friend Rosaleen, who left their family and harsh upbringing behind to uncover the mysteries of Lily's late mother. The film that begins filming this week in North Carolina is also starred by Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Hudson, Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys, Sophie Okonedo and Tristan Wilds.

Set to bring their real-life chemistry to the big screen, Hollywood husband-wife Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly are teaming up to highlight an indie psychological thriller entitled "Born", which will be the first film feature coming from Los Angeles-based ClearVision Media Production Group.
Story concerns a couple who settles down in a seemingly idyllic English town to raise a family. However, the perfect life does not last long when the husband, a claymation artist, shockingly finds out that his characters are acting out a nightmare that comes to life.
Paul Bettany Joins Brendan Fraser in "Inkheart"

"Inkheart" cast really is compiled fast. Just a day after the announcement of Brendan Fraser taking role in the project, Paul Bettany has been confirmed to be included in the list to star opposite the "Crash" actor. Unlike Fraser whose role in the film has been fixed, Bettany is still engaged in talks to play a fire-eating performer named Dustfinger.
Developed under New Line Cinema, the movie will be made based on the Cornelia Funke's fantasy novel which takes a look on the journey of a girl as she tries to save her kidnapped father who has an ability to bring characters from books to life. Iain Softley is attached to direct with playwright David Lindsay-Abaire adapting the screenplay. Funke herself is seating as the producer alongside Ileen Maisel.

Despite the worldwide controversy it has caused, the highly anticipated drama mystery thriller "The Da Vinci Code" opened Wednesday May 17th, 2006 at the 59th Cannes Film Festival.
Attending the premiere among others were Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellen and Paul Bettany.
Jake Gyllenhaal to Join Batman Sequel?

Also reported to join the cast is Paul Bettany who would probably star as Joker. Meanwhile, Christian Bale and Michael Caine also are reported to make a comeback.
