Usually known for his dead-defying performances in a number of high-octane actioners, Sylvester Stallone might try something different in his new movie. The action veteran is set to jump into drama genre in an indie flick called "Reach Me", Variety reports.

Sly will take a supporting role in the movie and details of his part are still kept under wraps. The story itself follows "a group of people who all have a connection to a self-help book authored by a reclusive former football coach."

Serving as the director and writer is Sly's "Cobra" co-star John Herzfeld. The "Rocky Balboa" actor joins a cast ensemble that include rapper-turned actor Nelly as well as Omari Hardwick, Elizabeth Henstridge, Danny Aiello and Rebekah Chaney.

66-year-old Stallone will next be seen in action films "Bullet to the Head" and "The Tomb (2013)", in which he reunites with Arnold Schwarzenegger. His other next project is boxing film "Grudge Match" which also stars Robert De Niro.

Stallone's casting in "Reach Me" is quite the opposite from Sean Penn's recent decision to star in action film "Prone Gunman" despite the fact that he's known for his works in a number of acclaimed dramas. The film will likely become Penn's own potential action film franchise.
