Jordin Sparks Is Sexy Motown Diva in New 'Sparkle' Photos

Along with Tika Sumpter and Carmen Ejogo, the 'No Air' songstress is in one image featured looking glamorous in a revealing dress while performing on a stage.

Jordin Sparks lets out her inner diva in several new stills from "Sparkle". Along with co-stars Tika Sumpter and Carmen Ejogo, the "American Idol" alum is in one photo featured going glam in a revealing black dress with golden details on the front while taking a stage as a member of motown girlband The Supreme.

In another photo, Sparks is seen looking sexy in a nude-colored mini tube dress while Sumpter and Ejogo look stunning in their baby-doll dresses as they stand on a stage with a band on their background. Additionally, there is an image that sees the "No Air" singer sitting on the side of the road with co-star Derek Luke.

"Sparkle" is a remake of the 1976 music-themed film of the same title, which was inspired by the story of The Supremes. It follows the journey of the three Williams sisters, who begin singing in Harlem in the late 1950 before finding fame as a girl group. Their sudden rise, however, unravels their personal lives.

The drama also stars recently deceased diva, Whitney Houston, who was supposed to make her acting comeback since she was last seen in 1996's "The Preacher's Wife". In the upcoming movie, the late songstress will appear as a "not-so encouraging mother" to Sparks' titular character.

Remembering her experience working with the "I Will Always Love You" hitmaker for the film, Sparks shared to Essence magazine, "She was always making sure I was okay, always asking if I needed something."

Sparks also recalled some funny moments with Houston on the set as saying, "In serious scenes, if the camera was on me... she was standing right there, it was the back of her head, she'd be making faces at me, trying to make me crack and I was like, 'I'm going to get you for that. I am going to get you for that.' "

Also joining the movie, which will hit the U.S. theaters on August 17, are Mike Epps, Cee-Lo Green and Omari Hardwick.
