An indie flick set to be directed by Stephen Elliott, the drama is casting Franco as a cocaine addict and Graham as a lesbian porn director.
James Franco, Heather Graham, Dev Patel, and Lili Taylor are lined up to star in an indie drama "Cherry (2012)", about a teen girl entering porn industry in San Francisco. The central character is yet to be cast but the people she got involved in while in the business could be portrayed by the four aforementioned actors.
Franco is set to play a cocaine-addicted lawyer who got to know the troubled teen. Graham is a former porn star who took a different life course by going behind the camera. She is "mildly obsessed with the young starlet". Taylor is the teen's alcoholic mother while Patel is the girl's best friend who falls in love with her.
The script is written by "The Adderall Diaries" author Stephen Elliott, who is also directing, assisted by Lorelei Lee. The film is scheduled to start the production in San Francisco next month. Liz Destro of "Explicit Ills" is producing.
While Variety said that the actors are still "in negotiations", Graham has hinted that hers is a done deal. "I play a lesbian porno movie director," she said as quoted by WWD at a recent dinner party hosted by Dom Perigno.
