While he can make use of the micro-blogging site to express his gratitude, he also hints that he gets a lot of haters after using Twitter.

John Mayer could follow the footsteps of Miley Cyrus. The rocker, who previously admitted he understands why the teen star deleted her Twitter account, has said that he lately considers to say goodbye to the micro-blogging site.

"Every night for the last two weeks, I think about canceling Twitter. It's over," he stated during keynote Q&A at the ASCAP Expo in Los Angeles on Thursday, April 22. He then added, "The only positive thing on Twitter is saying 'Thank you' and directing [followers] to something cool and important."

While he did not explain specifically why he would quit Twitter, he did hint that negative responses addressed to him has affected his mind. "Why do I want more haters? If someone had told me when I signed up I'd get half a million haters ... It's all about the approval," he claimed.

However, John apparently has not taken serious action related to his latest statement. His Twitter page is still accessible as of the press time though it seems that he has not updated it since Tuesday, April 20.

I miss his tweets lol i really thought it was cool how he would out lines and sometimes that line would go with something that happened to me that way. I think that communication with fans and people that arent famous or average joes like is could maybe help him too. I think that it is a good thing and i wouldnt care what any "hater" would say because it is his life, its really not fair

So, are all the tomatoes being thrown worth the good comments?

I think JM is right about twitter, but I wouldn't be so stupid as to delete his account. Like he said, for his fans it is a way to promote positive news in his life. Also, it is a way to keep haters busy instead of them moving on to someone else. You can get filters or hire someone to just present the positive feedback. But if he does stop tweeting he should tell his fans.
