'Green Lantern' Gets Green Light, to Start Shooting in March

The news was revealed by a member of the film's crew, who has just written on her blog that the action movie will kick off production in the next ten weeks.

AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. Pictures has moved forward with "Green Lantern". Visual effects supervisor Karen Goulekas recently posted an update about the film through her blog page that this movie adaptation of DC Comics character has got its official green light, MTV reported.

"'Green Lantern' got the official green light today," Goulekas wrote on Wednesday, January 6. She additionally hinted that the film will kick off its principal photography in March, claiming "And not a second too soon - only 10 weeks out from shooting!"

"The Proposal" actor Ryan Reynolds has been set to play the title character. Meanwhile, there was rumor that "Gossip Girl" star Blake Lively and "Elektra" actress Jennifer Garner were among the candidates to be the leading lady. Other names which were also mentioned on the list of possible Green Lantern's love interest included James Bond's girl in "Casino Royale" Eva Green, Mission: Impossible 3" star Keri Russell and Diane Kruger from "Troy".

"Green Lantern" will follow Hal Jordan, an ordinary man who was chosen by a dying alien named Abin Sur to receive a green energy-powered ring used for protecting the planet. Martin Campbell will serve as the man behind the lens while Donald De Line, Greg Berlanti and Andrew Haas will produce. This action adventure movie is set for June 17, 2011 release date in the U.S.
