'The Proposal' Gets Lots of Love at North American Box Office
June 22, 2009 09:06:56Romantic comedy "The Proposal" has led North American box office. Debuted atop the revenue chart, this Anne Fletcher-directed film rang up $33.6 million over the course of the June 19 to 21 weekend and thus became the movie that ended the reign of last two weeks' champ, "The Hangover".
This comedy movie did not only surpass industry's prediction that it will open in mid-$20-million range, but also marked the best opening ever for its leading actress, Sandra Bullock. The weekend bow for "The Proposal" nearly doubled the opening cume of Bullock's previous best, "Premonition", which debuted to $17.6 million in 2007.

June 19, 2009 03:06:53Romcom "The Proposal" bursts out three fresh clips. Highlighting the on-screen chemistry between the film's two leading actors Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, the clips expose scenes in which their characters, Margaret and Andrew, are put in one awkward situation to another due to their fake engagement.
The first clip opens with an introduction by both actors about what the movie is all about before moving on displaying a snippet of the movie. In it, Margaret and Andrew are awaken by a knock on the door by Andrew's mom. Realizing that they sleep in two separate places, they hurry up to jump into a bed together to put an act in front of his mother. But, they soon realize that his mother has another intention for waking them up.

'The Proposal' Goes to Hollywood for World Premiere
June 02, 2009 02:06:52Walt Disney Pictures were wasting no time in rolling down the red carpet for a world premiere gala of their upcoming romantic comedy "The Proposal". On Monday, June 1, weeks away from the film's theatrical release, the mouse house made use of the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California to hold the first screening event for the movie.
Two of the leading actors for the movie, Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, were present on the special night. While Sandra was spotted arriving solo, Ryan went to the premiere accompanied by his mother. The two were later joined by their co-stars, Betty White, Oscar Nunez, Craig T. Nelson, Malin Akerman, Michael Nouri and Mini Anden.

Timed at 3:06, the brand new promotional video brings forth a series of never-before-seen footage from the Touchstone Pictures romantic comedy, including the scene when Sandra Bullock's up-tight character, Margaret Tate, gets a lap dance from a male stripper.
When Margaret, a high-powered book editor faces deportation to her native Canada, she comes quick with a solution, declaring that she's actually engaged to her unsuspecting assistant, Andrew. Having been tormented by Margaret for the years he's been working with her, he agrees to participate in the scheme, but with a few conditions of his own. With an immigration official on their tails, the unlikely couple heads to Alaska to meet his family and faces another problem as his family plans an impromptu wedding.

Serving as the introduction to the two completely different characters, the video footage opens with a scene where Andrew wakes up late and has to run to the office before his difficult boss, Margaret Tate, arrives.
The trailer quickly moves on to present the problem faced by Tate as her visa application is denied. Having to avoid deportation to Canada, she then forces her assistant, Andrew, into lying that they are getting married. But, troubles are building up for the two as they now have to spend a weekend with Andrew's parents to sell the lie.

'The Proposal' Found Helmer From '27 Dresses'
January 16, 2008 02:01:17The helmer of drama romantic film "27 Dresses" has agreed to direct Touchstone Pictures' new romantic comedy "The Proposal". According to Hollywood Reporter, by joining the project, Anne Fletcher is expected to direct Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock, who are said to be attached to the film.
About the movie, the "Step Up" director who is also a choreographer revealed, "'The Proposal' has great physical comedy, which I for one, and I think a lot of other people, love seeing Sandy in." She then expressed her excitement in working for the project stating, "Ryan has great physical comedy skills too, and I always thought, why isn't he doing romantic comedies? So I'm excited to get my fingers into this."

Ryan Reynolds to Make Proposal
July 31, 2007 05:07:37It appears that Touchstone Pictures' "The Proposal" is close in getting its leading man by now. The Hollywood Reporter has delightfully come up with news informing "Smokin' Aces" star Ryan Reynolds is currently engaged in talks to secure the role in the project, which Sandra Bullock is set to topline.
If everything goes smooth, Reynolds will then play Bullock's young male assistant who agrees to make a sham engagement and marriage with her when she suddenly faces deportation to Canada.
